Education Data Methodology

How CollegeDarbar collects, attributes, verifies and updates college data.

Source hierarchy

  • We prefer official college documents and websites, government and regulator records, examination authorities, recognized ranking bodies and published institutional reports.
  • Third-party summaries are not treated as equivalent to a primary source.

Required metric provenance

  • Important numeric data points store value, year, source, source URL, verification date and reviewer.
  • The profile-level last-verified date is derived from the newest verified data point.

Updates and expiry

  • Data is reviewed when a new official cycle is published or a correction is received.
  • Older figures retain their year; they are not silently relabelled as current.

No-data rule

  • When no reliable institutional data is available, CollegeDarbar displays that limitation instead of a shared template statistic.
