NIFT Eligibility Criteria
- B.Des: Class 12 (any stream) passed or appearing; maximum age 24 years (relaxation for reserved categories as per notification).
- B.FTech: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or a 3-year engineering diploma.
- M.Des / MFM: a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution (or NIFT/NID UG diploma); no age limit.
- M.FTech: B.FTech from NIFT or B.E./B.Tech from a recognised institution.

In recent cycles CAT was a 3-hour drawing/design test and GAT a 2-hour multiple-choice test. Weightage for B.Des: CAT 50%, GAT 30%, Situation Test 20%. Confirm 2027 rules in the prospectus.
NIFT Syllabus
- CAT: drawing, colour sense, observation, creative and design thinking.
- GAT: quantitative ability, communication ability/English, analytical and logical ability, general knowledge and current affairs (plus case study for PG).
- Situation Test: hands-on model/3D construction with given materials, assessing material handling and innovation.
